Right now, the focus is on research in AI security and red-teaming at UC Berkeley, working in Dawn Song's group.
The start-up community is something that matters a lot to me. My philosophy on founding is all or nothing, not something to pursue in parallel to anything else. So there's no company being built right now, but the interest is real, the involvement is active, and the attention is close.
Intellectual freedom is worth incredibly much. Not being constantly stressed, having the space to let thoughts flow freely. That doesn't mean there's no commitment. But avoiding a constant fight-or-flight mode is how meaningful progress actually happens.
Books are a big part of life: fiction, philosophy, non-fiction. Long-form content over short-form, always. If something is worth thinking about, it's worth spending time with.
Clauding has become something of an addiction. Building small projects, trying out ideas, being creative without worrying about technical details. When the friction of implementation disappears, all that's left is the fun part.
Berkeley is also a chance to properly experience American university culture. The plan is to join some outdoor and sports clubs and just live the student life for a while.
The outdoors are a constant: running, hiking, camping, backpacking. Past trips include solo-backpacking through Finnish Lapland and a road trip from Denver to San Francisco, hitting a National Park every day and sleeping in the bed of a pickup truck with temperatures ranging from -15°C (5°F) to 20°C (68°F).
There's a kind of healthy minimalism to how life works best. Not having less for the sake of it, but finding that very little is actually needed to be happy. The wants are few, but when something is worth having, it gets done.
There is also a Marriott and United Platinum status to speak of. It still feels unreasonably great, which probably makes for a willing victim of good advertising.
